In this episode of EZ Deals, I’m very excited and privileged to have a highly esteemed guest and longtime friend of mine, Michael Chen. Mastering Tenant Relationships: Insights from the Director of Client Relationships at KTS
Michael and I have actually known each other for almost 10 years now. Although we have pursued careers in real estate, our paths have led us to success in completely different aspects of the business. As Director of Client Relationships at Kimball Tirey & St John, also known as KTS, Michael’s main role is to ensure their clients have an exceptional experience. This starts with a great onboarding process, setting up clients for success, and serving as a point of contact for all their needs.
At the beginning of our episode, Michael shared how real estate runs through his veins. He is a third-generation real estate investor. His father owned land in Taiwan and was a developer. Michael grew up collecting rent in economically depressed areas and dealing with tenants who often couldn’t afford to pay rent on time. This experience initially made him dislike the real estate world, and he was certain he didn’t want anything to do with it!
However, later in the episode, Michael provides a deep dive into effective tenant relationship management. He shares invaluable tips for rental property owners and highlights the biggest mistakes he sees investors making in California. His insights are not just theoretical; they are enriched with entertaining and insightful stories from his extensive career in real estate investing.
Before we finish the interview, Michael, as a landlord himself, shares his own experiences navigating the eviction process. He discusses the biggest misconceptions landlords have about eviction in California and how the process has evolved, especially after the pandemic. His firsthand experience offers a unique perspective that is both informative and practical.
Catch All the Tips and Tricks About Managing Successful Tenant Relationships
